Frequently asked questions

Q: Do you work weekends?
A: Yes we provide home care 365 days per year.
Q: Do you work nights?
A: We sometimes provide domiciliary care throughout the night for clients.
Q: Are you flexible?
A: Yes we want to provide you with a service that suits your particular needs. The assessment and reviews that we undertake should identify any care etc you may want.
Q: Do we do cleaning?
A: We do some cleaning as part of home care. So if we are preparing meals we will always wash up, tidy the kitchen and empty the bin etc. We do not take on just cleaning work.
Q: Do our staff have training?
A: Yes all our staff have to undergo training to ensure they can undertake their job to the highest possible standard.
Q: What training do our staff receive?
A: At the beginning of their employment they receive an intensive induction that gives them all the basic skills they need to carry out their work. During this time they work with a mentor to support them to provide the highest standards of care. Staff undertake NVQs level 2 & 3 and other specialist training for the type of clients they care for. Worcestershire Care Group is known for its excellent staff training.
Q: What does it cost?
A: Cost depends on what service you wish to buy. Please contact us and we can give you an estimated cost.
Q: How do we pay the bill?
A: We send out bills every four weeks and all our clients pay by cheque or direct bank transfer. We can make other arrangements if you require it.
Q: Do you provide personal care, shower, catheters, dressings?
A: All our care is provided following an assessment. We do all personal care, we bathe and shower, maintain catheters and will do simple dressings. But usually dressings are done by the district nurse.
Q: Do we have male home care assistants?
A: Yes we do have some males. They are very good and popular with the clients. However if you do not want to be attended by them, just tell the assessor and no men will come.
Q: Do you do cooking?
A: Yes we will cook meals and snacks.
Q: When could you start the care?
A: Tomorrow. With our Rapid Response Service we can start care immediately.
Q: Can I have a special time?
A: We try and give our clients the time they want. That is not always possible at the start of the service, as someone else may have that time. We try to time our visits as near as possible to the time you want, and over time you will get to your required slot.
Q: Will we have the same person?
A: We try to give you a team of staff who will visit you so that you are not constantly having strangers in your home.
Q: 24 hour call out?
A: We do not do 24 hour call out. We have a paging service that runs from 7am to 11pm every day during the hours when the office is closed.
Q: Notice of cancelling changing home care?
A: We require 3 days notice unless the client is admitted to hospital.
Q: Can I change times to suit personal circumstances?
A: Yes if we have availability at that time. We want to run a flexible service that makes our customers happy.
